Biting satire comes to Prerow every June to September with the one-of-a-kind open-air exhibition “Cartoonair”, displaying works by more than 50 of the best cartoonists in Germany. And if your belly’s not yet aching from all the laughs during the day, you have plenty of satirical evening shows and parties to choose from.

After all, laughing lets you take in more of the healthy sea air, which is why Cartoonair is also an extremely healthy festival. Whatever the weather brings, for more than two months cartoons by renowned cartoonists are on (weatherproof) display. And there’s a rich programme of events to accompany the show festival all summer long. Many cartoonists and caricaturists come to Prerow to draw and party with their fans and other seaside guests. You can watch the artists in action as they draw new cartoons on the spot, sign their books, and the winner of the Cartoonair audience prize is announced. And, if you’re inspired enough, you can even sign up for a cartoon workshop and start sketching out your own ideas.
